Preparing The Bath For Baby
Tuesday, February 9th, 2010    Subscribe To Our FeedYou might think that children are not really difficult until they hit their teens. But when you have your first child and really see how helpless babies are, you start understanding what a responsibility you have. Babies depend on you for absolutely everything.
This responsibility can be overwhelming for a new parent. Of course, you can ask friends and family members for advice. And you can find any number of books to help you. But it is never quite the same as your own experience. In the middle of the night, there is often no one to turn to.
A lot of times, people are afraid they will hurt newborns when they are holding them. New fathers are especially fearful of this. Oftentimes, though, if the baby does end up being hurt, it is from not having a firm enough hold on them.
Safety is extremely important with babies and one of the critical times to exercise great care is during bath time. Bath time is normally once per day at the least. Often, it is more than that because it is easier to bathe them if the diaper is really messy. You will want to ensure that you have what you need to bathe your baby in comfort and safety.
The first thing you will want to do is research baby bath tubs. You could bath your baby in a sink, but they will be much more comfortable in a bath tub that is made especially for them. These will normally be some type of plastic which is far more comfortable than a metal or porcelain sink. And either is safer than the normal bath tub which is much too large.
One brand of baby tub worth taking a look at is the Spa Baby. In a typical tub, the baby will have to lay back which feels uncomfortable and unnatural. This tub is deeper so that the baby can sit up. This keeps him warmer as the water better covers him. He is safer as he can sit up and keep his head above the water. And he is more comfortable as it is more like the environment he just came from.
Of course, you still need to be very careful when bathing your baby. You never want to leave a baby or small child in any type of bath unattended. But if you just prepare properly, bath time can be fun and without stress for all concerned.
