Baby bedding can be found at a fancy department store or a budget retailer so you can decide where you would rather go to buy it. Used furniture may have been recalled or may fail to meet current safety standards; examine it carefully before buying it.
It is important that you thoroughly test the furniture before purchasing to insure that the sides slide down smoothly without jerking. Choose a crib without a side latch as you do not want to wake up your baby after you put him to sleep. Also, consider your own height and the extent to which you’ll need to bend down to get your baby into and out of the crib.
One crib may do the job when your babies are very small if you happen to be having multiples. Multiples often enjoy sleeping nearby their siblings as babies are used to small spaces when they are born. You will know that it is time to buy another crib when the babies start to move around and interfere with each other’s sleep.
After you have all the right furniture chosen for your child’s room, you will have to get the baby bedding. Accidents will happen, so place a waterproof sheet over the baby mattress to minimize damage from nightly occurrences. Crib sheets and bumpers in bright patterns not only make decorating the nursery more fun, they also provide visual stimulation for the baby. Buying baby bedding is of little concern, for baby bedding comes in designs and colors which will outnumber the number of babies even; it is enough if you happily await the arrival of your baby. Organic or “green” baby bedding is also an option if this is important to you, but be aware that it will cost more than a regular babies crib set.
All baby bedding should be washed with detergent that is certified to be safe for babies, so that the baby’s skin won’t be irritated. In addition, don’t put too many toys and stuffed animals in the crib; your baby needs room to get a good night’s sleep!
