It is very easy to make baby blankets for different uses. Instead of buying them outside and paying more, you can create your own baby blankets for your own personal use or as a gift for baby showers.

If you wish to do this, use plain knitting stitch, or for more solid designs, use plain and purl alternatively in what is called a moss stitch technique. Again you can either knit the whole blanket at once in one color or stripes, or you can knit squares and then sew them together later.

It is important to choose your yarn carefully. Buy something that is suitable for babies. Synthetic fabric can make a baby’s skin itch, same with wool to a certain extent, so babies with sensitive skin would benefit from a blanket made purely of cotton.
